WRITTEN BY NAM THAI This I believe that people should learn from their mistakes and, in the heat of the
moment, forget it. As a volleyball player, learning from your mistakes is such a big key to improvement. People make mistakes all the time, it’s what makes us human. So the fact that you can turn those mistakes into a learning experience is super important. During a volleyball game the mood of your team can be a huge factor in how your team plays, so being able to stay positive and not letting mistakes you make on court affect you is such a good skill. We call this, “shaking it off”. Not learning to shake it off can be harmful to not only your mentality but also the mentality of your team. Sometimes people forget that it already happened and that you can’t go back and change it so they start to dwell or fixate on it. I can’t lie, I am also guilty of this. I have been in so many situations where a game can be decided by how our team's mood is. Sometimes I forget to shake off my mistakes so all the frustration builds up and spreads throughout the court. This can cause me to be scared to do certain plays because I am afraid of making another mistake. Sometimes on court I let my mistakes overwhelm me and I become distracted trying to figure out what I did wrong. This is why “shaking it off” is so important. |
