WRITTEN BY JADEN FISKE Assuming this person meant Garfield, it is one of the most popular comic strips in the entire world. Its first debut was in 1978 and has been popular ever since. He’s a laid-back and sarcastic cat, owned by your average joe named John Arbuckle. Though, a question has emerged through the years. What type of cat is Garfield, and why is he orange? What type of cat is Garfield? Well the website Kidal states “The Persian Tabby cat shares kind of an uncanny resemblance with Garfield, having the same grump appearance, short legs, and personality of him. They also have a classic letter M on their forehead.” But, due to the lack of details like his fur texture and coat, as well as no confirmation from the writer and cartoonist of the comic, Jim Davis, Garfield’s breed is unknown. Finally, why is Garfield Orange? The article Answers responds to this with, “Some cats are orange. Garfield happened to be one of them. I don’t think it’s something that requires a great deal of deep analysis.”. There is another possibility: Garfield’s full name is James Garfield Davis, to honor Jim Davis’ grandfather James Abraham Garfield. This has left fans wondering if the cat’s fur color honors or represents something else. There was nothing that could be found on why Garfield is orange, so the response from Answers is the best to go with. So, in conclusion, Garfield being orange is just because some cats are orange. There is no significance behind it |
